 Regional Committees Members 2025-2029The nomination round for the remaining members of the Regional Committees concluded on 6 May. The Elections Commission will assemble a full list of eligible nominations, and then from this list provide a slate of up to 15 candidates (per region) on the basis of non-weighted multiple nominations as submitted by the Chapters. Individuals on this list need to agree to stand. If 15 or less nominations are received, then all nominated candidates will appear on the ballot. Elections will begin soon. |

 Updated classification of epileptic seizuresThe ILAE published in Epilepsia an updated classification of epileptic seizures, building upon the framework established in 2017. The changes support improved clinical communication, research, and patient understanding. The update was shaped by global expert consensus, public feedback, and a rigorous review process.The revised classification includes four main seizure classes and 21 seizure types. Key updates include the use of “consciousness” over “awareness,” a focus on observable features, and a clear distinction between classifiers and descriptors. |
 Survey on Epilepsy in Older Adults The ILAE Older People Commission invites you to participate in a survey that seeks to identify the variability and gaps in the epilepsy care amid an increasing global elderly population. Your expertise will influence the development of patient-focused guidelines for epilepsy management in the aging population. The results will be presented at IEC 2025.The survey can be done in English, Arabic, Chinese, French, Spanish or Portuguese. Deadline to complete is 15 July. |
| The Brain and Climate Change |
| The ILAE Climate Change Commission, in collaboration with FutureNeuro and Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), have produced a new short film that sheds light on the urgent need to address the impact of climate change on brain health. The film calls for urgent action to address the risks posed by rising global temperatures to people living with neurological conditions such as epilepsy, multiple sclerosis and dementia. Bringing together leading voices in medicine, neuroscience, and climate science — alongside lived experience from people with epilepsy — the film is the first to spotlight how climate change is already affecting people with neurological conditions — from increased seizure activity and symptom flare-ups to disrupted access to care.  |

Clinical Vignette-based Survey of Acute Symptomatic Seizure Management The Acute Symptomatic Seizures Task Force of the ILAE invites you to participate in a survey study titled “Clinical Vignette-based Survey of Acute Symptomatic Seizure Management.” This survey aims to gather insights into current practices in managing acute symptomatic seizures (ASyS) across various clinical scenarios. The results will help to redefine ASyS across all age groups and give better clinical recommendation. |
