New case-based e-learning courses

A new case-based e-learning course has now launched and is available to those who have ordered the Level 1 Full Package; they may also be ordered individually via the Catalog & Store of the ILAE Academy.

Patient Case: Daphne (4 y/o)

This case discusses the diagnosis and treatment of a 4-year-old girl living in sub-Saharan Africa having seizures. The online discussion forum is open and will be tutored by the faculty until February 21, 2021.

Level 1 Certificate: This certificate will be provided once all compulsory courses (15 patient cases plus 26 ebrain sessions) are completed. Four more patient cases will be launched in February 2021.

Get to know the case authors

The patient case modules are developed by a faculty of distinguished authors and ILAE experts. The authors – young epileptologists – have developed the concept, content, and final tests for these cases in an intensive process over several months.

To give you the opportunity to get to know the case authors, we will introduce each when their case is made available.

Patient case - Daphne (4 y/o)

	Author: Maureen Njoroge, MBChB, Mmed (Paeds) Maureen is a child neurology fellow at the Aga Khan University Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya and a certified European Pediatric Life Support Instructor. She is a pediatrician who has been actively involved in provision of training in emergency care of patients. She has a research interest in neuro-developmental disorders and epilepsy.
	Author: Nicholas Odero, MBChB, Mmed (Paeds) Nicholas is a fellow in child neurology at The Aga Khan University Hospital in Nairobi, Kenya. He has vast experience in providing care to children with infectious diseases and has been actively involved in the training of health care providers in emergency care for sick children in low resource setting.
